About Fusion Comp Crew

Our Mission

Fusion Comp Crew's mission is to support families with children in dance, cheer, gymnastics, traditional stick and ball sports and other organized, competitive events through fundraising and donations.

Each registered competitor will be sponsored by volunteers who will raise money with FCC to provide grants that allow the competitor to thrive while lessening the financial burden that comes with these activates.

the story

yesterday

yesterday

In 2019 we were a group of parents looking for fundraising to help offset competition costs for our dance team. We started volunteering at UNC Charlotte for the 2019 basketball season. After Covid lockdowns ended we were invited to volunteer with the Charlotte Knights and then the Carolina Panthers.

Fusion Comp Crew has grown over the last six years and has supported hundreds of families. We have expanded to six core properties in the Charlotte area and work hard to provide additional opportunities wherever we can. As of May 2025 we have been able to give back $2.8 Million into the local economy in support of our athletes.

We are exploring opportunities at other properties in North Carolina and South Carolina. While this is exciting to contemplate, we want to be sure that the experience volunteers have in other locations is equal to the Charlotte area and will proceed carefully.

board of directors

jen jacobs

Jen Jacobs is our longest serving board member as part of the original group that created Fusion Comp Crew. A volunteer for four years, she was instrumental in guiding policies and the foundation of what Fusion Comp Crew has become. Having volunteered in the past, she understands how FCC helps our community and competitors. She volunteered for her daughter Lainie who danced competitively for 11 years. She is currently the Office Administrator for the Department of Dance at UNC Charlotte. Married for 32 years with 3 children, 2 of which currently attend Appalachian State University.

kelly potts

Kelly Potts is a 29-year career paramedic and former volunteer. Married to Tina for 27 years with two daughters, he volunteered for three years. He led 3rd base at Cannonballers and transitioned to a board member in August of 2024. He is passionate about our program and we are thrilled that he agreed to continue to support us on the Board.

executive director

gwynn trenck

Gwynn was nominated to work on fundraising at a parent meeting at the start of the dance season in 2019. She never could have imagined in four years that she would leave her job of 25 years to grow the opportunities for even more families.  Dedicated to the success of Fusion Comp Crew she handles all things FCC and you will see her at the Bank for all events and dropping in at all the other properties.
